Friuli-Venezia Giulia (Fvg) Region is a geographical area which spreads from sea to mountains. Within a little more than 100 kilometres one can enjoy both sandy and high rocky seashores, rivers, the Karst, the Collio and the Alps. The Nature Reserve Foce dell’Isonzo- Isola della Cona and all its surroundings offer many possibilities for children and youngsterr to get in contact with a preserved nature and to experience it with the help and the medium of the animals. Walking and observing wild animals, taking excursions in nature by riding, taking care of semi-wild horses and living their daily rhythm are among of the possibilities offered by Rainbow. It is well known that hyperactive children and autistic children have a good feeling for animals. The contact with them helps these people to perceive themselves and to find a harmonious way of using their minds and their bodies. That’s why Rainbow offers these children a horse-therapeutical program. A first contact with horses and their life, riding lessons for beginners and riding-excursions in nature for the more expert ones.
The rhythms and the scales of traditional musics are based on the different natural forces and their states. They have been developed according to the inner chords and rhythms of the human being and are able to influence and develop them. In each human being all the forces of the universe exist and live. In the people who suffer from hyperactivity and psychomotricity disorders, social emotional disorders or present autistic traits these forces are not integrated and this causes their not harmonious functioning. Traditional music has the power to harmonise these forces. Listening to, playing and singing Indian traditional music brings the interaction of the inner human forces into balance. The result is a reduction of the above mentioned specific disorders.
Hyperactivity disorders , psychomotricity disorders, social-emotional disorders and some kind of autistic traits can be balanced and therefore reduced through yoga activities. With the appropriate breathing exercises, the appropriate body positions and some meditation techniques we can purify our nerves and help our mind and body to communicate better with each other. Rainbow has been inspired by the Multidimensional Program of the Sri Aurobindo International Centre of Education. Rainbow’s yoga program offers activities suited to the different ages and specific disorders.
Rainbow offers activities of observation of the forms and colours of Nature. Children and young people will be accompanied in drawing and painting the Nature through a direct observation. The forms of Nature are harmonious and at the same time highly mathematically intelligent. They manifest in their perfection the integration of the forces of the universe. To observe and to recreate these forms and colours give strength to our outer senses, tranquillity to the vital soul, harmonises our mind, puts us into contact with our deeper soul. The contact with our soul is the source of our will power to master our bodies and our mental faculties according to our deeper nature and therefore our true occasion of an active constructive role in our social group, in the world.
Accomodation and meals will be provided at the Visit Centre of Gradina in Doberdo’ del Lago and at the Visit Centre of the Regional Natural Reserve Foce dell´Isonzo- Isola della Cona.
Natural Reserve of the lakes Doberdò and Pietrarossa – “Gradina” Visitor Centre- The protected area involves three municipalities of the Province of Gorizia: Doberdò del Lago (Doberdob), Monfalcone and Ronchi dei Legionari; its characteristic element is the presence of two large karstic depressions (polje) each with a lake and separated one from another by a range of limestone hills. The presence of the lakes contrasts stongly with the arid environments surrounding them and has allowed the development of ecosystems that are usually absent in the Karst and gives the protect area a high degree of biodiversity. Following the footpaths in the area offers the possibility to observe the transition from arid habitats such as the meadows of the landa carsica and the limestone pavements through to those of the wetlands that surround the lake. On the hill above the lake of Doberdò is the Gradina Visitor Centre in the museum of which the visitor can, through an interactive display, take in the historical and ecological aspects of the reserve and the surrounding Karst. The visitor centre together with the Paludario are managed by the ROGOS Cooperative that also organizes educational activities with schools, excursions, scientific divulgation and art exhibitions.
The “Foce of Isonzo” Regional Nature Reserve was established in 1996. It extends over a surface of 2,338 hectares, out of which almost half is situated in marine areas, and develops on a territory included in the municipalities of Staranzano, Grado, San Canzian d’Isonzo and Fiumicello. The environment of the mouth of the Isonzo River has been almost renaturalized in the ‘90s when the agricultural use of the the territory has been abandoned, the Natural Reserve has been established and the hunting has been forbidden. The huge variety of the different humid environments allows the large amount of birds species present in this habitat. More than 300 species has been observed. Within the Reserve, part of the meadow habitats are groomed through the pasture of Camargue horses, a species which is particularly adapted to this environment. Furthermore the Reserve promotes the development of educational and informative activities for scientific research to increase the naturalistic culture.
It is our care to keep the costs for the participants as low as possible (limiting them to a minimum expense contribution) thanks to the support of partners and sponsors and the obtaining of institutional funding for the project.
